Our goal is to raise ₹50 Lakhs by the reunion to help students and infrastructure at our alma mater. You can choose to make a foundational one-time gift, commit to an annual contribution, or both. Your generosity ensures our legacy continues.
A few TCE students cannot afford to stay at Hostel and are instead staying outside and commuting to TCE. Many of those students cannot afford to spend on lunch too. With the fund provided by the 1997 alumni batch, free lunch is currently being provided to 15 students.
The plan is to expand the free lunch program to include poor day-scholars too and also provide free breakfast. Around 25 day-scholars are expected to receive free lunch and a total of 25 students are also expected to receive free breakfast. Lunch or breakfast costs Rs. 50 per day per student and a student attends college for around 200 days a year. Hence, the need is Rs. 10k to support 1 student for lunch or breakfast. Total target comes to Rs. 5 lakhs.
There are still several poor students studying at TCE, students who cannot afford to pay for their tuition, or hostel accommodation. Last year, for example, more than 700 students applied for scholarships and out of them only 241 got partial scholarships. Hence, there is a huge need here!
In most cases, TCE receives one-time donations and in those cases, the donations are maintained in an Endowment fund and only the interest derived from that fund is used to provide scholarships. Any one-time donations we make will get added to the Endowment fund and interest from it will be used to award scholarships.
Alternatively, we can make an annual pledge for scholarships. In that case, the full amount we donate will be used this year to award scholarships and we need to replenish the funds annually.
Below table shows the growth in support for students in the past years based on interest received from the Endowment fund.
